Yesterday, Izzy got a little brother named Joe. It started around 2 am, Anna woke me up at 4 am, we called her parents to come stay with Izzy at 5 am, and we were at the hospital at 7 am.
Anna was definitely in a lot of pain during labor, and the epidural took two tries to work, but once it worked, she was good. We then watched crazy rich asians, and started Cars 2 while we waited to reach 10 cm dilated. We think they could have likely checked an hour or so before they actually did, but once they did, and Anna started pushing (while Cars 2 played in the background) it was only 3 pushes before the nurse made her stop to wait for the doctor. Once the doctor got to the room, it was 2 pushes and out came Joe. Joe had his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, and that was a little scary, but the Dr. fixed it pretty quickly, and then out came Joe. It was a little different than Izzy, but the feeling was the same, and we had a baby boy.
We’ve been in the hospital just the 3 of us for about 24 hours now, and we’ll be able to go home soon we hope. Izzy has met Joe over Facetime, and she is really excited to be able to hold him. Marmy has been taken great care of Izzy.
This time we gave birth with masks on, haven’t had any family in the hospital. We’ve been wearing masks when the nurses come in, and actually have slept a little (Joe slept from 3 am to 8 am this morning). Our life just changed a lot, but we are so lucky. It’s going to be a roller coaster, but we’re ready for it.
