Today was Sunday, and after church we went to get some pumpkins. Of course, Izzy picked out the biggest pumpkin there ($23), and Joe picked out one not much smaller ($17). I picked out a yellow one and Anna already had one at home.
After that we went to the pool, where I tricked Joe into taking the swim test (he didn’t know he was taking it, I just had him do what we always do while the lifeguard watched, then had Izzy float on back and stomach and tell Joe to copy her). He did it just fine and got his yellow band, which is huge because now we don’t have to physically be in the pool with him. He still didn’t go down the waterslide, he did go to the top but got scared, but he is now able to do his spin jumps into the pool and I can take a break if needed. Izzy goes down the waterslide a lot. We played a bit in the gym afterwards, second day in a row in the gym for them, and then we went home.
Once we got home, we painted and carved pumpkins. Joe and Izzy and Anna painted theirs, then after that Izzy and I carved mine. Anna painted Super Mario, it looked gread until Izzy put her finger on it. Now Mario is crying. I’m not sure what Izzy painted but it looks cool. Joe’s pumpkin is gray. Izzy and I carved my pumpkin after that was over, with Izzy drawing out what she wanted me to carve. Our pumpkin looks pretty cool, and Izzy added “hair” to it which we duct taped branches of the bushes to do. It was all her idea, she’s pretty creative.
Great day, great weekend, we are lucky.
Update – it was so hot – the pumpkin we carved lasted 4 days before it caved in…
