Two days ago, Izzy truly started swimming on her own. We are in between Holden Beach and Oak Island, and we were staying close to Carolina National. In the pool right across from the clubhouse, Izzy decided she wouldn’t be scared and started swimming 10-15 feet on her own via a doggy paddle. She backed it up yesterday at the pool at the beach club, and today she really started putting her head underwater for a long period of time with her goggles on. All things we’ve been trying to do for a long time, but she finally did them. We celebrated in the pool and with ice cream. Today, Izzy asked specifically to go to the pool so we could swim, even though it was raining. So we did.
Izzy and Joe have had a busy couple weeks. We stayed at Noni and Baba’s the last week, and we tubed on the river. Izzy really liked it, and she even went outside the wake. Izzy, Joe, and Anna did it at the same time too. Joe and Izzy both like the bumps.
This week, we played at the beach. Izzy just wants to float in the ocean. She loves it. I found a ton of my favorite kind of sea shells. I’ve never seen so many on a beach before. Must be Nana sending them in.
Yesterday, Papa (Billy) and I were playing golf and Joe joined us for the last six holes. He had a blast between driving the golf cart and trying to hit the balls. At the end, I was complaining about how I had wasted a really good driving day for me, to which Joe responded “Uh huh”. He was cracking jokes.
Izzy and I just finished snuggling. She politely told me after about 2 minutes that i “could go when I wanted to”. Don’t tell Anna, but I do enjoy snuggling with her. Who knows how much longer I’ll be able to.
