We just wrapped up our first holden beach trip without Nana. It was an interesting week for the kids.

Izzy learned how to throw a temper tantrum. She was awful the first half of the week behavior wise. She also loved floating in the ocean, something she would do for hours in a row and never wanted to come in. She caught her first wave on accident when Anna handed me Joe for a big wave last minute and we forgot to grab Izzy. Izzy would float with her “backpack” float and a donut float combined. Luckily, she rode the wave all the way in. We also had a similar scare day one when it was just me and Izzy, without the donut float, and the wave went over both Izzy and I. I held on, we made it back in, and Izzy wanted to go out farther and didn’t understand why we were coming in.

Joe also loved the beach, and when he got comfortable in the ocean, he just wanted to float as well. Another game he loved was to take Izzy’s donut float and “roll it” so the wind would catch it and take it away like a bowling ball, for one of us (started with Uncle P) to go get.

It was a laid back trip to the beach this year, no golfing for me, our scuba trip got cancelled, so we were at the beach every day, but I can’t remember being this tired. Did I mention Izzy had to sleep in our bed because she refused to sleep in hers? And that Joe didn’t sleep great the first 2 nights? O well, we made it, few naps included.

Until next year.
