We are on what I’d call week 2 of the coronavirus shut down. Last week we kept Izzy home from daycare because Anna was on spring break. She learned so much in just a week. She’s singing her ABC’s, counting to 10 in English and Spanish, doing new puzzles, drawing Picasso like masterpieces, and moving around so much better! Ok, that was dad talk. When she counts, she really likes to say 8 and Uno. When she says her ABCs, she can say the first 3 letters, A-B-C, then will throw a letter in every now and then until she finishes strong with Y-Z. She likes to draw Mommy (whom she also calls Anna now), Daddy (who is commonly referred to as Nate – in our new puzzle the number 1 is a snake who she also calls Nate and looks at me and laughs), Izzy, and Joe. Once she draws them (or makes me or Anna draw them) she immediately crosses them out and asks to redraw them.
Sesame Street is quickly becoming the favorite thing to watch and read in this house, and Elmo is her favorite. That has edged out Nemo and Olaf in the last few days. We did watch Toy Story this weekend, but I don’t think she quite fell in love with it yet.
I hope that she can go back to daycare and she her friends soon. I worry that right now is when she needs to be with other kids the most. We are very fortunate though, and can only hope that everyone can make it through this thing together.
