This year for Halloween, Joseph chose our theme. We were Pokemon themed. Joseph was Ash, Izzy was Dawn (Female trainer), Anna was supposed to be Pikachu and I was supposed to be a Poke Ball, but we though with Anna 9 months pregnant it was more appropriate for her to be the Poke Ball. Izzy was not happy with her outfit at school, as no one knew who she was, but she was a trooper and has exclaimed that she gets to pick her theme next year.
We did not carve pumpkins this year, but we did decorate quite a few. Izzy made Junie B Jones for her school project, complete with hair. I made a Poke Ball out of a white pumpkin, and Anna made Pikachu out of a yellow pumpkin. We all then contributed to my work pumpkin, which was a small Gengar. Joseph and Izzy also decorated their own pumpkins their own way to round out our collection, which I was quite proud of. We tend to go all out, in my mind, for Halloween, and I enjoy it.
Trick or treating was a good time. The Browns joined us, and the kids hit every house on our side of Rea rd. I would say the participation in our neighborhood was lower than normal this year, for which I blame Trump. We’re making our way through the candy, have a bit left, but not as excessive as in years past. I think part of that is because the kids are actually making a dent in it this year.
My prediction for Halloween 2026 > Toy Story.
