My sister Angie got married this past weekend, or as Izzy and Joe call her, Aunt G. She married Uncle Luke in Pine Knoll Shores, and I think the wedding weekend went exactly how the two of them wanted it to.
Izzy was the flower girl, and she was stunning. She didn’t exactly throw many of her flowers, but she did a great job. Joe followed her and was the ring bearer. He didn’t lose the rings, and he also did a great job.
I really wanted to dance a lot with the kids, but they were wiped out by the time dinner was over. It was a big weekend for them.
We started it with our first fishing trip. It was a bit colder than I think the kids would have liked, and the kids were still unsure, but the trip turned out great. We went out by Cape Lookout and we caught 17 spanish mackeral (lost probably 6 more), 1 blue fish, 1 baby cobia, and 1 baby king mackeral, all in about 2 and a half hours. We also saw a huge school of rays (we got excited bc we thought they might be cobia), and a huge pod of dolphins, as well as a few sharks and a turtle. I think the kids highlight was when we bottom fished, and we fed the poor fish to the pelican, and the pelican would eat the fish whole.
We also got a lot of beach time in, and Izzy likes to go as far out as you will let her. Luckily, the ocean was like a lake the two days we were in it.
Izzy skipped her last day of kindergarten to go fishing, maybe we will make it a tradition. I can’t believe Kindergarten is over already. That’s insane to me. Joe only has one more year of preschool/daycare, and then I’m going to be solo from 7:15 am on every morning….I’m not going to know what to do with myself.
