A lot has happened in the past month, including me failing to write in here every other week. Here’s to trying over the next 2 weeks.
One of the biggest memories that happened involved Neil, Neil’s truck, and Neil’s way too nice golf cart. Izzy loved riding in the golf cart, so much so that after one of the rides, I was taking Joe and Parker (Cam’s daughter) inside, and she asked if she could play in the garage. I proceeded to tell her that was fine, there was a child’s station in there the kids liked, as long as she didn’t go on the golf cart (which was parked, no key in it, and on a slight incline in the driveway). Sure enough, few minutes later, Izzy comes in crying. She had hit either the brake or gas trying to fake drive the golf cart, then it started rolling backwards, and she bailed out. The golf cart ended up hitting Neil’s truck, and damaging the cart. The important thing that I learned was everyone was ok. The other thing was that our insurance actually came through, and Neil was able to fix both on their dime!!!
On the theme of breaking things, we recently carved pumpkins for Halloween. Izzy wanted hers to be carved with all triangles, Joe wanted all squares. They are still a little young to let them carve them themselves. Post carving, the next day, Izzy decided to carry her pumpkin to the driveway (the pumpkin was not small). She proceeded to drop it, breaking it in half. Then blamed it on Joe for kicking it (which he did, but he wouldn’t have split it in half). Later the next night while Izzy was in the bath, I asked her why she kept breaking things. She just looked at me, made a muscle with her arm, and said “Because I’m so strong daddy”. It was pretty funny.
In other Izzy news, she has really been pushing buttons lately. We’re hoping that stops. We also spoke our own language the other day on our ride to preschool. She couldn’t stop laughing. Her laugh is great. We’re hoping that continues.
This is a long post – so we’ll continue with Joe before closing with Halloween.
Joe has developed a few obsessions lately.
1 – he loves to rub hair when you hold him or snuggle him to sleep. I’m not really sure why, but as soon as you pick him up, he goes straight or the hair.
2- Color Cars – all Joe wants to do is watch color cars. It’s a youtube thing, objects (mainly vehicles) go through paint and come out the other side a color, all while kids music plays. He’s obsessed. When he’s not watching and wants to, he’ll come ask you in a whisper, as if a whisper is the key “Watch color cars?”
3 – Dump Truck Scooter – Joe has turned his dump truck into a mode of transportation for himself, and he’s quite proficient with it. It’s fun to watch him zoom around on that thing.
Ok – Halloween…..times 4.
We have so much candy. First, the outfits. We were Spidey and Friends, from the show that by Halloween Joe no longer even wanted to watch. We started as PJ Masks, but that didn’t make it to the month of October. We plan early. So Anna was Spidey (in my Mom’s old spidey suit), Izzy was Ghostie, Joe was Spin, I was Hulk (who I was told to be).
We had a lot of Halloween’s. The first was at Red Ventures, which actually spoils the kids because all they have to do is walk to the next desk to get more candy. And get candy they did. Then the next day Izzy had a Halloween party and a trunk or treat at her school, more candy. Saturday night was the Piper Glen block party, less candy, but still candy and more Halloween. Sunday was off, and then Monday we trick or treated. Izzy made it down about 1/3 of our neighborhood, before calling it quits and passing out candy the rest of the time. Joe made it to 2/3 of the neighborhood. I was glad we didn’t get all 3 main streets because I was tired as well. Until next year…
