Today is Joe’s birthday, #1, he’s no longer a zero. We’ve done it right, Anna always goes all out for the birthdays. This weekend, we went to New Bern, and spent Saturday at the beach with the Holtons, where Izzy and Joe played with Parker. They both loved the water and the beach. Joe also discovered potato chips, which he ate for 15 minutes straight. There were skydivers and spanish mackeral contraband and good times all around.

We took them on the river Sunday morning, and Izzy had her first tube ride behind the boat. She continued her streak of asking to go fast in motor vehicles, asking to go fast again the first time we put the boat in idle.

OG Joe and Laurel came up from Emerald Isle as well, and we did a birthday party for Joe with my parents. It took him a while, but he finally smashed and then demolished the cupcake. He also stuck his finger in the candle’s flame.

Today is a Monday, and Anna’s parents, Katie, and Mathias just left. Joe shot baskets on his little goal with the regular ball all day. He always looks for confirmation of a job well done. We had elk cheeseburgers and then cake. The smash cake could have fed us all. Joe (and Izzy) smashed this one. I’m not sure who made a bigger mess, Joe or Izzy. The number of toys we have continues to grow, I’m really not sure what to do with all of them.

We’re 1 already, and 3 with Izzy, this time is just flying by so fast. I’m also eating more cake and ice cream than ever before in my life. Happy birthday
