Before I get to Joe’s big week, want to share some Izzy updates.
2 nights ago, I went in to give Izzy a kiss good night. She looked at me, got up, and gave me a big hug without either of us saying anything. It was one of the best feelings ever. Then, she promptly asked me to stay with her and sing her a song. The girl knows how to get what she wants.
Joe’s big step, his first steps, were last Tuesday, 4/13. I heard Alex go “Oh my gosh Joe” and knew he had done it (I told Alex that Monday that this would be the week he walked). On 4/13 he took 3 steps, then he did that again on 4/14 for his mom, and then finally on 4/15 for me. I went fishing last weekend, and of course as soon as I left, he was walking all around that Friday, 4/16. Joe beat Izzy by all of 2 weeks I think (if this diary is accurate). Izzy started walking right after she turned 11 months old. His walk is hilarious. He takes those short, choppy, steps (I called it the drunk walk for Izzy), and his head bobs. He smiles the whole time too.
Joe has also started “talking”, not words, but he’s talking to you. He answers your questions, tells you hello, and always calls for Mila. His first word was still DaDa.
Izzy turns 3 Saturday. We are having our families to the house, and of course it’s supposed to rain. Hopefully everyone is ok being inside with each other. We’ll see. When I think about the last 3 years, it’s all such a blur. First Izzy was being born and everyone was slamming into the hospital room, then she was walking in the front yard, then she was holding her brother Joe for the first time, and now she’s a grown woman shooting baskets, jumping on trampolines, and cooking us dinner. Where does time go….
