I’ve slacked again. This is going to be a long one as it’s been quite a while since my last post. In that time, our nanny Alex had her baby, so we’ve had Marlo our cousin come fill in, luckily it’s going great. Izzy has become all that closer to 3, and Joe is about a month away from walking, we’ll get to it.

Izzy has a couple new favorite things. 1 – she loves playing with the filters on Google Duo that can do anything from put a frog on your head to make you an astronaut. It’s really quite cool technology (thanks Snapchat), and she has figured out how to change the filters on her own. Her ability to work a phone is already better than my Nana’s was. It’s pretty scary. On Apple’s Facetime, they let you be a “poop head”. Not surprisingly, that’s one of Izzy’s favorites.

Another new thing that Izzy has picked up is her desire to “cook”. Her play kitchen has all sorts of toy foods in it. Izzy now enjoys making breakfast, lunch, or dinner…for “everyone”. Don’t mess with her cooking either, that triggers another new thing – tantrums.

Izzy would always pitch fits, but these days, the fits are extra. They involve a lot of kicking, and don’t end as early as they used to. Here’s to hoping the phase is short lived!

Lastly for Izzy, she has a new favorite song – “What does the Fox say” by Ylvis. We have been dancing machines to that song. Izzy’s favorite moves are a sort of “gallop-skip” accompanied by multiple spins, followed by asking Mommy or Daddy to spin her around in the air. She’ll also jump like she’s at a rave. The song itself is actually quite clever if you listen to the lyrics. We’ll see how long this song remains #1 on DJ Bizzy’s Top 100.

Joe will get shorted here, but he is also growing fast. His army crawls have turned into real crawls, and he is able to pull up on everything, including able to climb stairs. His mobility is fun, but also adds that dimension of illusiveness.

Joe is also on the verge of talking. His verbal communication is strong, and while we haven’t taught him sign language, he has a definite signal for “more”. It involves slapping his hand repeatedly against whatever is closest, almost like he is pounding the table. I swear I have heard him say “Ball” as well. I think he’ll start saying actual words/syllables here in the next few weeks. Reminder, Izzy’s first word was “dada” 🙂 !

We’re hoping to get Izzy and Joe up to the mountains to see snow soon. Stay tuned here on that update!
