Izzy’s baby brother Joe is getting really close to being here. Every time we ask Izzy where baby Joe is, she pulls up her shirt and pats her belly. I dread even thinking that that may be a possibility one day at this point in her life.
Izzy has continued to blossom while we’ve been quarantined at home. She is doing new things in Uncle Paul’s pool, including floating on a mat by herself and starting to put her head in the water willingly. She also love pushing me in the pool. She will push me in, then say “Daddy come”, as she grabs my hand and tries to help me back up, so she can then push me in again and laugh at me. It is actually quite entertaining. Yesterday she fought me tooth and nail when I made her leave the pool. I’m really glad she loves the water.
Izzy has also figured out that if she doesn’t eat, or eats very slowly, it will increase the amount of time she can watch Barney or Sesame Street in the morning. This is a problem we’ll have to figure out how to solve, because right now it becomes us spoon feeding her, which we won’t want to do much longer.
The big monumental moment from this past week though had to be Izzy peeing on the potty. It has happened twice now, and doesn’t happen on her own free will yet, but we are making baby steps. That will be very nice when we no longer have to change her diapers (even though I’ll miss it)! We’ll see how fast she picks up the potty thing, but if other areas are indicators, I don’t think she’s going to have much trouble.
We are lucky. We are blessed. Izzy teaches us something every day. We hope you are as fortunate as we are.
